Snacks have been on my mind a lot lately! Snack time, especially in the afternoon, seems to be the time that it’s really easy to make poor choices, but much like a full meal, it’s an opportunity to get a nice dose of nutrients that will make you feel GOOD!
I recently posted about 10 ‘On The Go’ Snacks To Keep You Going Until Dinner, and given the response to it, it appears everyone is need of some snacking ideas and inspiration.
This energy bar could be most likened to a non-sweet Lara bar, perhaps? Here are some things to note:
- Depending on your protein powder, this will change the taste. If you aren’t a huge fan of your protein powder taste, you may want to omit it or use a vanilla based brand you like. I used Genuine Health Fermented Proteins+. The protein powder is pretty important for the nutritional content, as it’s adding extra protein to your snack.
- If you don’t have crunchy almond butter, just use regular
- The recipe contains maca powder. Never heard of it? Learn more here – it’s a natural energy booster. If you can’t find it, you could add raw cacao, but this will make it less sweet.
- I store these in the freezer and grab one a couple of hours before I want it so it thaws.
